PPOL Stories
PPOL is a firm with an intention. Decisions, no matter how small, are rarely random.
We believe that no detail is insignificant, and we thought you might enjoy reading as to where some of our corporate branding decisions come from and their significance.
Our very name, PPOL, comes from the short form for Public POLicy. Maria, our director and founder, attended the earlier form of the McCourt School of Public Policy, at Georgetown University. PPOL was the name code for all its courses, and so PPOL Studio was born! Overtime, we now speak of it as “people” studio, which aligns with a broadened work portfolio beyond public policy analysis.
Our colors, both blues, also have a meaning and significance. Our navy blue is the Georgetown blue and the lighter blue the Columbia blue. We leave the story behind the columbia blue for another time.
Our emphasis on accessibility and inclusion is also deliberate. Maria, our director and founder, is a mother to a child with visual impairments. As a result, she has experienced first hand the impact that an accessible design has for the user. So accessibility, ranging from pallets to fonts, will never be an afterthought in our work.
