Evaluation + Learning
Working with Itad for Dubai Cares to conduct an evaluation of their Girls’ Education Portfolio
Dubai Cares is a UAE-based global philanthropic organisation which aims to provide children in developing countries with access to quality education through programmes that eliminate the underlying obstacles that prevent children from going to school and learning. In 2019, Dubai Cares commissioned Itad the evaluation of their Girls Education portfolio. PPOL and Maria, our founder and director, were the team leader for the evaluation.
The evaluation had two overarching objectives: To capture key learning and insights in order to inform Dubai Cares’ future strategy and grant-making, and to equip Dubai Cares with evidence, insights and learning from its investments that can benefit and further advocate for better policy at the global and regional level.
The team worked with Dubai Cares to transform evidence from projects into a portfolio level strategy. This was done by using co-creation and theories of change to balance the evidence on what works in the Girls’ Education portfolio, with the Foundation’s ambitions in the sector, to help inform future investments and strategic decision making.
